Arugula cultivation in Serbia, both for domestic consumption and export, especially to Russia, is facing significant challenges due to an invasive thrips species, despite complex plant protection measures. This thrips is not only harmful to the crop but also spreads plant viruses, leading to outbreaks and showing resistance to many insecticides. Inspections of a shipment of 4.3 tons of fresh herbs from Serola revealed infestation with this pest, leading to the acquisition for destruction and the banning of the release of this quantity into Russia.
