In 2023, Peru experienced a significant growth in paprika exports, with a 6% increase in volume and a 33% increase in value, amounting to $149 million from 37,756 tons. This growth is attributed to higher crop yields and is not greatly impacted by climate phenomena. The average price per kilogram of Peruvian paprika also increased by 25% due to a shortage of Chinese and European paprika. The United States and Mexico were the primary importers, with Mexico's imports increasing by 8% and 26% respectively. In Spain, there was a 22% reduction in imports, but a 6% price increase. Brazil's imports rose by 53%, but the price dropped by 12%. Overall, the Peruvian paprika industry has experienced steady growth, particularly in the North American market, despite some challenges in other regions.
