From January to September of 2022, Peru experienced an 11% increase in avocado export volume, reaching a total of 613,947 tons, but a 10% decrease in export value, resulting in a revenue of $976 million and an average price of $1.59 per kilogram, one of the lowest in the past four years. Despite the price drop, the avocado cultivation area is expected to expand from 18,000 hectares in 2017 to 43,000 hectares by the end of 2022, with major production regions being La Libertad, Lambayeque, and Lima. The Netherlands, the U.S., and Spain have been the primary importers of Peruvian avocados, experiencing changes in both volume and value compared to the previous year.
