Peru has ratified the Comprehensive and Progressive Treaty of Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP), becoming a member of the 11-nation bloc that includes Australia, Brunei, Canada, Chile, Japan, Malaysia, Mexico, New Zealand, Singapore, Vietnam, and Peru. The ratification will allow Peruvian exports to enter tariff-free into New Zealand and Vietnam, and potentially Brunei and Malaysia. The treaty is expected to provide Peruvian exporters with increased market access and competitiveness, with benefits including tariff reduction for products with inputs from other CPTPP members. The treaty, which represents 13% of the world's GDP and 15% of global trade, is expected to particularly benefit Peruvian products such as cotton t-shirts and polo shirts, avocados, grapes, cranberries, and dairy products.
