Peruvian passion fruit exports fall by 53.1% in value and 40.7% in volume in April 2024

(Agraria.pe) Peru's passion fruit export sector experienced a -53.1% drop in value in the month of April, reaching US$3.8 million. In terms of volume, exports decreased -40.7%, going from 1,986 tons to 1,178 tons. At the same time, in the analyzed month of this year, the average price per kilogram of passion fruit showed a drop of -20.9%, reducing from US$ 4.1 to US$ 3.2 per kilogram. The geographical distribution of passion fruit exports also underwent changes, reaching 15 destinations, two less than in 2023. The Netherlands remained the main importer, with purchases for US$ 1.6 million and 439 tons, representing 42.2% of the total exported and with an average price of US$ 3.6 per kilogram. The United States (36.5%) ranked second, importing passion fruit worth US$1.4 million, equivalent to 467 tons, at an average price of US$3.0 per kilogram.
