Peruvian shipments abroad of grain quinoa fall in volume -11.59% until November 6

(Agraria.pe) From January 1 to November 6, 2023, Peruvian exports of quinoa grains totaled 35,087,780 kilos, registering a contraction of -11.59% compared to the 39,689,079 kilos shipped in the same period of the previous year . This was indicated by the president of the consulting firm Inform@cción, Fernando Cillóniz Benavides, who pointed out that this drop is due to the lower shipments registered in the first quarter of this year, generated by the social upheavals registered especially in the southern regions of the country. He highlighted that in the main producing and exporting region of the country such as Puno, stoppages and violent acts were recorded in the indicated months, however, he said that once calm returned, exports normalized. In this regard, he stated that from January 1 to November 6 of this year, the Puno region shipped 7,032,476 kilos of quinoa, showing a drop of -22.72% compared to the 9,100,187 kilos sent in the same period of 2022.
