An analysis by the French NGO, Générations futures, has found that the majority of non-organic fruits and vegetables sold in France in 2022 contained harmful pesticide residues. The study found that 62% of non-organic fruits and vegetables contained at least one pesticide residue, with some fruits like cherries and limes showing as high as 90% contamination. The contaminants included carcinogenic, mutagenic, or toxic substances, as well as endocrine disruptors and 'PFAS pesticides'. The NGO is calling for increased support for organic farming and the reduction of pesticide use, criticizing the suspension and change of indicators for measuring pesticide use by the French government.
