Pilgrim's raises staff levels ahead of migrant worker loss in the US

North American Pilgrim's Pride, belonging to Brazilian company JBS, increased the number of employees at its chicken processing facilities in recent months to prepare for the loss of many migrant workers, company executives said. The Trump administration ended policies that previously allowed migrants from Cuba, Haiti, Nicaragua, and Venezuela to work and live legally in the United States. These migrants accounted for between 10% and 20% of the workforce in the poultry industry at the beginning of this year.
