The Western Mediterranean Agricultural Research Institute (BATEM) in Turkey has introduced two new species, pomelo and kumquat, to its citrus fruit production, which has reached 5 million tons annually. The pomelo, also known as shadok, is the largest citrus fruit, while kumquat is the smallest. Both fruits are rich in potassium, fiber, and vitamin C, and are preferred for their unique tastes and nutritional values. The harvest for both fruits is between November and December, and due to their rarity and high demand, they command high prices. BATEM is now selling saplings of both fruits for hobby or commercial cultivation.
