The Middle East market has seen a significant increase in Vietnam's seafood exports, with a growth rate of 44% and accounting for nearly 3% of the total exports. The main seafood products exported include pangasius, tuna, shrimp, and other marine fishes and squid and octopus. Pangasius is the highest value item exported to the Middle East, with a 66% increase over the same period last year. The top three importers of Vietnamese pangasius are Egypt, UAE, and Saudi Arabia. Despite high inflation, the food consumption demand in Middle Eastern countries is not expected to be significantly affected. Economists predict that the Middle East region's economy will slow down in 2023, but pangasius exporters still view the Middle East as an optimistic destination due to forecasted more stable demand than other markets.
