The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development in Vietnam is taking steps to curb the illegal trading and transportation of buffaloes and cows from across the central border and South Vietnam, particularly from the borders with Laos and Cambodia. This action is aimed at preventing the spread of animal diseases like foot-and-mouth disease and skin rash, which pose a threat to the domestic livestock industry and public health. The ministry has directed localities to enhance inspection and control measures at borders, with plans to investigate and penalize those involved in the illegal trade. Additionally, local markets are advised to improve circulation control and testing for banned substances in imported animals.
