The Northern Sheep Project of the Andean Rural Development Support Program (Pradera), from the Regional Government of Puno, reported that in the coming days it will conclude one of the most important sanitary interventions of the year: the free ovine deworming campaign, which will reach 150,000 heads of livestock in the provinces of Putina, Azángaro, Melgar, Lampa, Huancané, and Moho. This action has directly benefited thousands of livestock farming families in the highland, strengthening the health and productivity of their animals. During the campaign, broad-spectrum veterinary products were applied, effectively combating internal parasites such as liver fluke and gastrointestinal nematodes, as well as external parasites like lice and ticks. These conditions, common in the Andean highlands, often compromise the development, reproduction, and performance of sheep.
