The quarantine imposed in several municipalities of the Kaliningrad region due to an outbreak of African swine fever (ASF) in 2022 has been lifted, but some restrictive measures will continue for six months, according to a decree by Governor Anton Alikhanov. The decree cancels previous restrictions but maintains prohibitions for meat producers and pig farms, such as bans on certain exports and sales, until 180 days after the decree's cancellation. The region faced potential food shortages and plans to pay compensation to pig owners whose animals were destroyed due to the outbreak.
