Rain and exchange rates halt wheat trade in the South of the country

Weather conditions and the appreciation of the Brazilian real against the dollar limited wheat trading in the South of Brazil this Monday (20), according to information from TF Agroeconômica. The advance of rains again interrupted the harvest in Rio Grande do Sul, which had reached only 2% of the area estimated by Emater. Despite the pause, analyses of the harvested crops show excellent quality, with PH between 76 and 81 and gluten strength (W) of 200 to 250. The volume traded in the state already totals around 440 thousand tons, a level similar to last year. With the drop in the dollar, the export price fell to R$ 1,165.00 per ton at the Port of Rio Grande, which represents liquidity between R$ 1,010.00 and R$ 1,015.00 in the interior. In the mills, there were no new deals, and prices paid to producers continue to fall slightly, between R$ 59.00 and R$ 60.00 per sack in regions such as Santa Rosa and Panambi.
