Adana, a city in Turkey and a major contributor to the country's watermelon production, has initiated the 'raw watermelon teams' initiative. This initiative, launched in 2016 by the Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry and agriculture chambers, aims to prevent the harvesting of underripe watermelons. The teams work in areas with high watermelon cultivation, ensuring that only fully ripe watermelons are allowed to be harvested and sold. This measure is taken to maintain the brand value of Adana's renowned watermelons and to protect both the producers and consumers from purchasing or harvesting underripe watermelons, which can negatively affect market prices and consumer satisfaction.
