The Moroccan red fruit sector has seen a dynamic growth in the past three years, with exports of fresh and frozen red fruits surpassing 170,000 tons in the 2019-2020 campaign, marking a 22% increase from the previous year and a 40% increase from 2017-2018. The growth is more pronounced in fresh red fruits, with raspberries and blueberries accounting for nearly 90,000 tons exported. Europe, especially Spain, Germany, and the UK, remains the primary destination for these exports, covering 95% of the total. The increase in cultivation areas, particularly for blueberries, and the adoption of soilless cultivation of raspberries to meet market quality and environmental standards are key factors driving this growth.
