Russian researchers from the Far Eastern branches of the All-Russian Research Institute of Fisheries and Oceanography (VNIRO) have recommended a slight decrease in the total allowable catch (TAC) of pollock for the 2025 season, proposing a reduction to 2.26 million metric tons from the current 2.27 million metric tons, a 0.4 percent decrease. This proposal, now open for public discussion, is the first step towards the Russian government's final decision on the TAC, with a specific focus on the Sea of Okhotsk, where the suggested TAC is 1.153 million metric tons.
