Since the detection of highly pathagenic avian influenza in Japan, exporting countries and regions have approved the continuation of poultry-derived product exports from non-affected prefectures. Hong Kong has agreed to receive exports from Chiba Prefecture, which has been declared free of the infection. Exports to other countries such as Singapore, the United States, Vietnam, and Macau have also resumed. The suspension of exports from Chiba Prefecture was only temporary, and exports from other prefectures continued despite the infection. The total export value of chicken meat and eggs in 2023 was 9.6 billion yen, with a significant portion going to Hong Kong.
