Russia has permitted the transit of a consignment of lentils from Kazakhstan through the Novorossiysk port, following discussions with Kazakhstani authorities. This comes after a ban on the import and transit of various agricultural products from Kazakhstan, imposed by Russia since October 17, 2024. Kazakhstan's Prime Minister, Olzhas Bektenov, announced the decision in response to queries from Majilis deputies and mentioned the ongoing discussions to lift the restrictions. The situation regarding the unilateral returns of Kazakh agricultural products by Russia was also addressed at an intergovernmental commission.
