Russia's fish exports were down by 13% in the first eight months of 2024 compared to the same period in the previous year, totaling around 1.1 million tons. The exports are distributed to over 70 countries, with four new countries, including Namibia, Syria, Mexico, and Kuwait, having been added since 2022. China and the Republic of Korea were the main importers, with their imports decreasing by 4% and 33% respectively. The Netherlands also continues to import Russian fish products, albeit in smaller volumes. Nearly half of the exports consist of pollock, and most of the shipments are transported by water. The Russian agricultural watchdog is working on gaining access to India, Pakistan, and South Africa.
