In January 2021, Russian dairy imports were down 10% compared to the same period in 2020, with a total volume of 577 thousand tons valued at $202.6 million, a 25% decrease from the previous year. The National Union of Dairy Producers of Russia reports that the only category experiencing an increase in supply is cheese. The main suppliers were the Republic of Belarus (75%), New Zealand (8%), Argentina (5%), Uruguay (4%), and Kyrgyzstan (2%). While Belarus increased its dairy supplies by 14%, other countries saw a decrease of 44%. Cheese products made up approximately 46% of Russia's imports in January 2021.
