A delegation led by José Guajardo Reyes, national director of Chile's SAG, along with representatives from ChileCarne, Faenacar, Frutas de Chile, and embassies in Japan and South Korea, recently visited these countries to discuss the next fruit shipping season and ongoing phytosanitary requirements for Chilean fruit exports. In Japan, they discussed cold treatments for fruit fly-affected areas and Chile's participation in Expo Osaka 2024. In South Korea, the focus was on reviewing inspection processes at the Port of Incheon and advancing pest mitigation measures for plums. The 2023-2024 season saw significant exports of fresh fruits to both countries, with over 32,000 tons to Japan and over 33,000 tons to South Korea.
