Vietnam's shrimp industry aims to expand its farming area to 750,000 hectares and produce over 1 million tons of shrimp, with an export value of over 4.3 billion USD in 2023. However, the industry faces challenges such as increasing competition, falling world market prices for shrimp, and rising domestic prices. Other issues include high production costs, water pollution, and quality concerns. To achieve the targets, businesses are advised to diversify products, plan for adverse conditions, improve quality, reduce intermediaries, and adopt certified farming methods. Localities should ensure the continuity of the shrimp production chain and prevent the sale of substandard seeds and feed.
