A severe winter drought in Sinan-gun, Jeollanam-do, South Korea has led to a 30% decrease in water retention compared to last year, affecting 216 reservoirs and potentially impacting rice planting and winter crops such as spinach, garlic, onion, green onion, barley, and wheat. The drought could also result in tap water supply cuts to about 270 households on small islands. The county is implementing measures in hopes of mitigating the damage and is awaiting central government action.
