The President of Turkey's Vegetable Oil Industrialists' Association, Tahir Büyükhelvacıgil, has raised concerns about the potential impact of the Russia-Ukraine conflict on Turkey's agricultural sector, particularly in importing oilseeds. With Turkey's self-sufficiency ending in April, it relies heavily on imports, including 1.3 million tons from Russia and Ukraine, which are currently experiencing port issues and increased crude oil prices. Büyükhelvacıgil has urged the government to address these challenges and consider alternative sources in the Balkan countries. He also warned of potential issues if Ukraine's planting is affected by the war.
