Australian cherry exports have reached 505 tonnes and are on track to hit 5,000 tonnes due to favorable conditions and improvements by local growers. The largest markets are Hong Kong and China, with Vietnam, Malaysia, and Singapore also increasing imports. All cherries for Vietnam undergo irradiation, ensuring superior quality. Cherry Growers Australia is focusing on the quality of Australian cherries to compete with Chilean cherries. The target for this season is 5,000 tonnes, up from 4,030 tonnes last season. Promotion of Australian cherries will continue through events in China, Vietnam, Hong Kong, and Taiwan.
