São Paulo is experiencing a surge in white crystal sugar prices, with the CEPEA/ESALQ Indicator hitting R$ 140.0/50 kg bag, due to a decrease in supply from mills attributed to drought and fires. The current price level has not been reached since May/24. The state's sugar production in the second half of August/24 was down by 11.82% year-on-year, producing 2.073 million tons, as reported by the Sugarcane and Bioenergy Industry Union (Unica).
