Blaufränkisch is one of Central Europe's best-known blue grape varieties, particularly cultivated in large areas in Austria and Hungary. The current tasting examined 87 samples. The results speak for themselves: six wines were rated as outstanding, 38 as highly recommended, 30 as recommended, and 13 as acceptable by the experts. This shows that the variety represents an increasingly stable quality in the international wine market. Blaufränkisch wines are characterized by aromas of dark berries, spicy notes, vibrant acids, and firm tannins. When young, they are usually striking, sometimes appearing a bit lean, but with aging, they develop into rich, round, complex wines. This is why the variety can satisfy a wide range of consumer needs: it provides an experience for both everyday wine drinkers and lovers of sophisticated flavors.
