Illegal pork smuggling in East Asian countries, especially Taiwan, has surged four times in 2022 compared to the previous year, with 789 kilograms of pork products illegally imported. The majority of these products were intercepted at the international mail department of Chunghwa Post. The Taiwanese government has implemented measures to prevent the spread of African swine fever, including banning pork product imports from affected regions and regulating feeding practices for pigs. Since 2020, the government has imposed fines on pig farms that violate these regulations.
