The agricultural sector (-2.1%) and the fishing sector (-6.2%), and the food, beverage, and tobacco industry (-1.7%) have reduced their debt from credit contracts during the second quarter of 2025, compared to the same period in 2024. The total credit requested by the agricultural sector during the second quarter of 2025 reached a value of 19,479 million euros, a figure 2.1% lower than that recorded in the same period of 2024 but 0.3% higher than that of the first quarter of this year. The latest Quarterly Indebtedness Report of the agri-food sector released by the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food (MAPA) has set the "doubtful" rate of the agricultural sector at 4.6% -904 million euros of doubtful credit-, a percentage that in the second quarter of 2024 was 5.4%. The level of debt of the agricultural sector (19,479 million) in the second quarter of 2025 is equivalent to 50.6% of its gross value added (GVA) in the previous year, which stood at 38,517 million euros ...
