Dardo Chiesa, the Coordinator of the Meat Table, has expressed concern over the critical financial situation of cattle ranchers due to losses of up to $100 per kilo caused by factors such as the exchange delay policy, consumption restrictions, drought, and oversupply of finance. He warns of potential catastrophic consequences for the industry, similar to the 2008 crisis when over 10 million head of cattle were lost. Chiesa is advocating for a delay in the return to commercial meat cutting, believing that the current economic climate is not conducive to increasing costs for producers or consumers. He emphasizes the need for strategic planning and the resolution of ongoing issues to prevent further financial strain within the industry.
