Norway and China have started exporting live snow crabs to China, marking a significant entry into the Chinese market for Norwegian seafood. The collaboration, aimed at showcasing the quality of Norwegian snow crabs, has resulted in a substantial growth in Norwegian seafood exports to China, with a projected increase of 182% and 49% in volume and value, respectively, by 2024. The uniquely flavored snow crabs, produced in the cold waters of the northern Barents Sea, are expected to become one of the core markets for Norwegian shrimp, crab, and shellfish by 2029. The partnership also highlights the commitment to sustainability through strict ecological supervision on snow crab fishing.
