According to the latest catch report released by the National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS), approximately 32,000 metric tons of quota were unused in the B season, plus the 11,900 metric tons that were not completed in the A season, the offshore fleet had a total of 43,900 metric tons of quota left unfinished for the year, accounting for about 7% of the annual total quota.
The Alaska pollock processing plants along the coast include: Trident Seafoods' processing facility in Akutan; UniSea plant under Nissui (Nissui); Westward Seafoods plant under Maruha Nichiro; and the processing vessel Northern Victor. As Trident and UniSea plants halted production for maintenance in early October, Westward became the only land-based plant operating until the end of the season. In contrast, the catcher-processor fleet almost completed its entire quota.
This year's total catch of Bering Sea pollock reached 1,325,000 metric tons, an increase of 1% compared to the previous year. The cumulative onshore quantity in the Gulf of Alaska was 134,400 metric tons, with a remaining 51,000 metric tons.
In 2025, Alaska plants produced a total of 179,988 metric tons of pollock surimi, an increase of 6% compared to 2024 (170,478 metric tons).
