Tanzania: The government sets strategies for the chicken sector

The GOVERNMENT has promised to put in place various strategies to ensure that the poultry and poultry sector grows and contributes more to employment, the economy and strengthening food and nutrition security. The strategies include establishing chicken farms including parent chicken farms, investment in areas where chickens are not produced, and the establishment of a new animal feed factory. This has been spoken by the Minister of Agriculture in Zanzibar, Shamata Shaame when closing the platform for the Poultry Industry and livestock for South African countries. Shamata has said that one of the other strategies that they hope to do is to collaborate with development stakeholders, the private sector and investors to bring rapid reforms to the industry.
