Under one of the guidelines established by the Secretary of Economy, Graciela Márquez Colín, the Mexican Institute of Industrial Property (IMPI) and the Tequila Regulatory Council (CRT) met today to determine forceful actions for the protection of the denomination of origin Tequila. The designation of origin Tequila is recognized in 55 countries, including those of the European Union, which in February 2019 gave Mexico the title of protection. Mexico exports more than 20 million liters a year to European countries, where this drink has already been protected since 1997 through international agreements. The 2019 recognition will be used by the Mexican State to firmly enforce the protection rights of the Tequila designation of origin in Europe.
