[Korean Farmers' News Agency, Reporter Gu Jeong-min] The Jeonbuk Agricultural Technology Institute's Seed Business Division is accelerating the early distribution of the next-generation rice variety "Sugwang1," which is resistant to climate change and boasts both quantity and quality. The institute has formalized a plan to produce 15 tons of seed rice by next year and supply it to farms, drawing attention from the field. Sugwang1 is the successor variety of Sugwang, once evaluated as the highest quality rice, and it maintains its appearance and rice flavor while addressing key on-site complaints such as △ enhanced resistance to white leaf blight △ improved drop rate. Notably, it is resistant to the K3a type of white leaf blight, which has recently spread in coastal and lowland areas of Jeonbuk, ensuring cultivation stability even in an unstable climate.
