In 2022, Ukraine saw a significant shift in its dairy exports, with Poland receiving 63% of the total dairy products up from 51% the previous year. The Balkans and Romania also significant markets, while Germany and the Baltic countries received smaller volumes. The EU received 43% of Ukraine's milk exports in 2022, but this figure decreased due to reduced supplies. Other important markets for Ukraine include the MENA and Asian countries, as well as post-Soviet countries. However, the dairy industry in Ukraine has been impacted by the conflict, with around 60% of enterprises specializing in raw milk production suffering losses and a shadow market and counterfeit products affecting the industry. Dairy exports from Ukraine decreased in value by nearly 30% in 2023 compared to 2022, while imports increased by over 15%.
