In the first quarter of the 2024/2025 oil milling season, Kazakhstan experienced a significant boost in sunflower oil production, with refined oil production increasing by 17% to 56 thousand tons and unrefined oil production rising by over 8 thousand tons to 161 thousand tons, as reported by the National Association of Oilseed Processors (NAPMC). This growth in production is part of a larger strategy to further increase refined sunflower oil production, with plans to launch refining projects of 66 thousand tons and 165 thousand tons per year in 2025 and 2026, respectively. These initiatives aim to stabilize the price of bottled oil and reduce imports.
