The Ministry of Agriculture of Kazakhstan is proposing a six-month ban on the import of Russian wheat by road to protect local agricultural producers and keep prices for Kazakh wheat competitive. The draft order will be open for public discussion until April 5. The proposal is in line with various laws and regulations, including the Treaty on the Eurasian Economic Union. The move aims to combat the influx of cheaper Russian grain, which has put pressure on Kazakh wheat prices, and address the issue of unofficial imports from Russia.
