For the first time in two and a half decades, the area under almond cultivation in California has seen a decrease, as per reports from Land IQ and the USDA-NASS. The total area of almond orchards in 2022 was 1.2% less than the previous year, according to the USDA-NASS. Meanwhile, the Land IQ report for 2023 shows a slight increase in the area of fruit-bearing almond orchards, although there is a slowdown in the growth of such areas. Additionally, the report indicates that the plan is to uproot around 29% more orchards by the end of August 2023 compared to the previous year.
