The COVID-19 epidemic has led to significant challenges in the export of agricultural products through the border gate in Lao Cai province, Vietnam. The Chinese authorities have increased inspection and disinfection of imported goods, leading to longer custom clearance times and increased costs for businesses. This situation has resulted in a sudden increase in traffic at the border gates and affected the export of various fruit products. The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development in Vietnam has directed businesses to regularly update regulations and requirements for exporting goods to China. The World Health Organization, the Food and Drug Administration, and the US Department of Agriculture have stated that there is no scientific evidence to suggest that food or food packaging can transmit the SARS-CoV-2 virus.
