There is a possible shortage of seed potatoes in Ukraine, prices are rising

This year, Ukrainian farmers faced a shortage of seed potatoes. Subsequently, unfavorable weather conditions significantly worsened the harvest. As a result, the price of potatoes on the vegetable market has increased several times. Mykola Ponomarenko, the founder and director of the "Desna" gas station from Chernihiv region, told Zemliak.com about this. Producers were forced to increase the price of potatoes, because already at the beginning of the season they faced a shortage of planting material. "We order planting potatoes from the best European breeding companies. But last year in the same Germany and many other countries there was a shortage of seed potatoes. To our farm, for example, the suppliers could not fully provide all the volumes that we ordered. This was the case with our producers in many regions," says Mykola Ponomarenko.
