A shipment of 28,000 kilos of onions was seized at the Santa Tomé and Sao Borja border crossing between Argentina and Brazil. Customs is investigating the shipment after discovering irregularities in the exporter's documentation, including invoices of dubious origin and lack of traceability in the exporter's operations. The operator is presumed to have acquired the merchandise irregularly and does not have the necessary support for its export volume. The investigation has determined that the operation is part of a problematic cycle where intermediaries are used for export without proper foreign currency liquidation.
