The Black Sea Agricultural Research Institute in Turkey has successfully planted the country's first indigenous rapeseed hybrid seed varieties, a significant development in the 'Hybrid Rapeseed Breeding Project' funded by TUBITAK. Fifteen varieties of rape hybrid seeds, potential for registration, have been sown in Amasya, Samsun, and Tokat, with those showing high yields to be prioritized for registration. This initiative, aimed at reducing Turkey's reliance on foreign hybrid seeds, is led by Assoc. Dr. Kibar Ak and research assistant Mustafa Acar, highlighting the importance of domestic oil crop production for both food and energy security.
