Turkmen companies are working to reduce the country's dependence on imported goods such as sugar, margarine, and vegetable oil by increasing production and creating new facilities. Hyzmatdaşlar Open Joint Stock Company is building a sugar plant in Serdar etrap, Balkan velayat, with an annual capacity of 120 thousand tons. Business Society Begmaýs is constructing a margarine production plant in Kipchak residential area, Ashgabat, with an annual capacity of 48 thousand tons, expected to be completed in the first half of 2022. Gündogar akymy has started operating a sunflower oil production plant in Bagtyyarlyk etrap, the capital, with an annual production capacity of 7 thousand tons. Other companies are also investing in vegetable oil and sunflower plantations to decrease imports.
