The National Commission for Development and Life without Drugs (Devida) held the first technical meeting aimed at cocoa farmers in Irazola, Padre Abad province, Ucayali region. The activity aimed to strengthen their capabilities and promote sustainable practices. The event brought together 60 producing families from the hamlets of Bajo Shiringal, Santa Cruz, Alto Shiringal, Mundial sector, San Martín de Chía, and El Porvenir Km. 113. The event took place on plots in the Alto Shiringal hamlet, where participants reinforced their knowledge about different stages of cocoa cultivation. During the training, topics such as the preparation of organic fertilizers for soil recovery, liquid fertilization with injector to optimize the use of nutrients, good harvesting and post-harvest practices, as well as the integrated management of pests and diseases, which helps reduce the use of chemicals and protect the environment, were addressed.
