With the aim of guaranteeing food safety and human health, the Regional Directorate of Agriculture of Ucayali, with the support of the National Agrarian Health Service (Senasa), carried out the monitoring of plots of hard yellow corn from the producers of the hamlet of San Lorenzo, district of Manantay, province of Coronel Portillo.
The activity seeks to verify compliance with national and international regulations on pesticides and heavy metals, ensuring the quality of the crop and the safety of the product. The presence and concentration of pesticides, heavy metals, and mycotoxins are evaluated.
After a brief informative talk to the producers, Senasa professionals took samples of the corn, which will be sent to a laboratory for analysis. The results will provide valuable information to optimize the use of pesticides, adjust management practices, and sustainably improve the quality of the harvests.
