(Ulsan=Yonhap News) Reporter Kim Geun-ju = The Ulsan Institute of Health and Environment announced on the 2nd that it will strengthen disease prevention measures until February of next year to prevent the inflow and spread of livestock infectious diseases during the winter season.
The Ulsan Institute of Health and Environment will implement early surveillance of wild birds to prevent the inflow of highly pathogenic avian influenza, and reduce the inspection cycle from once per quarter to at least once a month for layer farms and small-scale sales outlets.
Additionally, to prevent African swine fever, the institute plans to conduct intensive inspections on pigs raised within the area, pigs sent to slaughterhouses, and livestock-related facilities to check for disease inflow.
To block foot-and-mouth disease, from this month, the institute will check whether cattle and goats on livestock farms have been vaccinated, and impose fines on farms with low antibody positivity rates or those that have not been vaccinated.
