Uruguay is focusing on exporting light lambs to Brazil, aiming for smooth and consistent shipments to strengthen its international market position. The National Meat Institute (INAC), led by Álvaro Pereira Ramela, is strategizing to expand access to other global markets, including the United States, Europe, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom, by exploring the potential of bone-in meat exports. Additionally, Uruguay targets Southeast Asia, specifically Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, and Vietnam, to tap into their population growth and expanding economies, with a plan to enhance the value and market diversity of Uruguayan meats through tourism and local gastronomy.
