Chronic wasting disease, also known as 'zombie deer disease', has been detected in various regions of Texas. This neurological disease, which affects animals by attacking their nervous system, has raised concerns as it could potentially transmit to humans. Although no human transmissions have been recorded, authorities are implementing control measures and reinforcing surveillance in natural parks and hunting areas. The disease is characterized by symptoms such as excessive salivation, lethargy, weight loss, motor incoordination, and a glassy gaze.
